Ibuya Consulting Engineers was established in 2005 by Remeguis Sfiso Nzama and George Chetty as a black owned company with an emphasis on achieving excellence in the electrical and electronic engineering field.

In 2007 Ibuya amalgamated with RCE Consulting Engineers, which was a well established practice founded in 1982, to increase the capacity and experience of the practice as well asproviding the opportunity for skills development.

The practice has made an overwhelming contribution to the built environment by designing and monitoring the installation of electrical and electronic systems for many prestigious projects in South Africa, India and parts of Africa. Major projects include high rise office blocks, corporate head office blocks, retail centres, apartment blocks, educational institutions, warehouses and factories, hotels and resorts, game reserves, medical facilities and sports venues.

Ibuya Consulting Engineers is adequately resourced to manage a diverse range of projects, as evidenced by it’s portfolio ranging from single discipline projects to multi discipline projects requiring comprehensive co-ordination and integration. The practice is fully equipped with an IT network, computer systems, software, plotters and printers; professionally managed by competent staff with many years of specialist expertise. Excellence is ensured by continually improving our technical knowledge and skills, while applying an innovative approach to each unique project.

The practice is committed to sustainability and environmental awareness in project design while providing well engineered, cost effective and energy efficient designs within financial parameters. This is based on the premise that a correctly detailed design results in a quality installation, construction monitoring; and effective and efficient time management of projects. The identified benefits include the following:

  • The client only pays once for the design. Equipment suppliers and contractors do not have to build the design and detail costs in the tender price.
  • Lower tender prices, due to the detail and accuracy of the drawings, bills of quantities and the absence of undefined areas.
  • Budgeting and associated project cost control are more precise, resulting in a lower final contract cost.
  • The original detailed working drawings are updated via feedback from site and become accurate as built- record drawings.
  • A better quality end product with the services being correctly integrated into the systems or building during the design stage.

Ibuya Consulting Engineers is currently 80% black owned and has achieved a Level 1 BBBEE Status. This has been achieved by ownership and middle management structures, skills development, preferential procurement, employment equity and Social Economic Development.

Ibuya Consulting Engineers is committed to Corporate Social Investment programmes to assist with the social needs of the disadvantaged which includes sponsorship of fees for staff wishing to further studies, contributing to many charities, providing bursaries to students, funding school excursions to University and Technikon Engineering open days.
